Giving back to our communities!

In 1995, the employees of Hills Materials Company and Northwestern Engineering Company got together to create a scholarship program.  We decided to make it available to graduating high school seniors in all of the communities where we make our living.  We felt that this was a good way to say 'Thank You!' and to help foster our next generation of leaders.  Not only did we want to help college bound students, we saw this as opportunity to support the many young adults continuing their education at trade schools and other, shorter-term institutions.

In the 13 years since, we've given nearly $182,000 dollars in 259 scholarships.  Last year we gave $17,000 to 24 deserving young adults and we expect to give even more next year

If you or someone you know will be graduating from high school and could use a little help (and who doesn't?), get a copy of our scholarship application.  You can print a copy here or, if you prefer, send us a line and well be happy to get one to you.  You can also pick one up at the guidance office of your school.

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of South Dakota also sponsors a scholarship for graduation high school students or students who are enrolled in a construction-related education program at either a college/university or a technical institute.  If you are interested in this opportunity, go to the AGC website the and click on the scholarship application link!
